Annapurna Circuit TrekGosaikunda Lake is believed to have been created by lord Shiva when he thrusted his trident into a mountain to draw water to cool his burning throat after swallowing poison. There is a large rock at the center of the lake, which is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine. It is also said that the water from this lake disappears underground through a subterranean channel and surface in Kumbeshwor pool, connected to the five stored temple of Shiva in Patan. Gosaikunda (altitude 4380 M.) is north of Kathmandu and of the Langtang region. The Holy Lake is a two day trek from Dhunche (1950 M.) that is reached over adventures 118 Km mountain road from Kathmandu via Trisuli Bazar. About 10 of thousands of devotees make a pilgrimage to this lake on the full moon day of middle of June to middle of August to take ritual holy dips in the cold mountain water.

 
 

 

Gosainkunda Lake Tour Outline

Day 01:
An adventures 118 km. mountain road drive from Kathmandu via Trisuli Bazar to Dhunche and overnight there.

 

Day 02: 
A dissent uphill trekking to Chandanbari about 6/7 hours trek.

 

Day 03: 
Early morning trekking to Gosaikunda the holy lake and spend overnight there, do puja also. And visit Surya Kunda, Saraswoti Kunda, Bhairab kunda, Etc. On this day you can see the breathing mountain view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, etc.

 

Day 04:
After breakfast trek back to Chandanbari and overnight there.

 

Day 05:
Early morning Trek Back to Dhunche All Downhill.

 

Day 06:
Drive back to Kathmandu.
